completely built bottom end, forged everything, balanced and blueprinted , i would go with a bigger bore smaller stroke so it will rev fast and maybe keep some high rpms which the turbo will like.

If your buddy plans on running 14+ PSI he must have everything precise. And its going to be pretty costly to build a GOOD motor for that much boost.Any as far as the mods go there are quite a few to run with in terms of a blower motor. Like a custom build motor, customized to his exact specifications.

Maybe I can help out a bit on this one...

15-17 psi is a LOT of boost for a motor with the displacement of an LT1 or LS1. I would recommend going 12 lbs at the highest, but if he's REALLY boost hungry, a fully forged low compression motor will handle 15 lbs.

- Tell your friend he's got to lower his compression to at most 9.5:1, first and foremost, if he's going for the big boost. A 10.5:1 compression motor should be alright with forged internals up to 12 psi, but anything above that will wear even forged internals quickly. Lower compression, although less powerful, is the way to go if you want your motor to last with that much boost.
- Forge everything, as Gangly said. Eagle is a great brand (what I use).
- Don't wait for the rear to go- replace it immediately with a 9" Ford or a 12-bolt GM. If the rear goes while he's running at the track, he'll most likely end up running into something hard and flat. The 10-bolt will definitely blow sooner or later. Also, an LT1/LS1 car would love some 3.73s too... 4.10s would be a bit of overkill with a blower.
- Is the car a T-56 or a 4L60/E? The 4L60E won't hold out for too long under that much torque, but a T-56 will probably fare better. Either way, tell your friend he'll be looking at a ruined trans within a year. His best bet after that would be a BEEFY 4-speed or 5-speed drag trans.
- SLICKS. Running that much power, he'll never get traction. We're talking 650+ horsepower here if he runs 15+ lbs.

Hope that helped... I'm still learning a lot of this boost stuff. Just tried to share my knowledge as best as I could. Tell your friend I said good luck!

Wait, I don't understand? Is he using the LT1 motor or a crate? If he's using an LT1, my advice would be to bore it to 355 cid, and leave the stroke stock. Keep in mine, all this is going to cost a bundle... Let us know how he does!
