Car is slow out of sudden, please help!
Hey guys, well here is the story.
The other day I went for a drive, nothing crazy just couple of quick pulls on empty roads. So as I was driving, I didnt hear any bangs or noises, just the exhaust sound changed in weird way. It sounded really weird, not as loud and as the car pooping. Then I tried to pull out of the corner and it started moving but very slowly... It really takes time to get it moving especially from dead stop. Oil pressure remains at 1/4 on idle and 1/2 while under load. Also I noticed while driving the tach doesnt go pass 3000rpm even when its WOT.
Any suggestions, directions, approach to this problem would be highly appreciated. I hope its nothing serious...
Car is 94 Z28, M6, all stock engine, 180K.

Hey guys, I dont think it was cat...
I bought the cat, and the next day headed to the exhaust shop couple of blocks away. Car was same slow, not as loud and sounded like crap, was hard to get moving once stopped (felt like it had 20% of original power). So it ended up overheating like it never has before, and spilling out most of the coolant before I could get to shop. Few days later, I took the exhaust pipe off myself and looked at the cat, the honeycomb was perfectly fine... which disappointed me...
Anyone has suggestion what else I should be checking for, because I dont know anymore... extremely frustrated with it.

At 180k, chances are good that cat is probably done in. Car could easily overheat I would imagine if the exhaust is clogged up. Did you install the new cat, or run the car with the old cat off??
Not to make your day worse, but when my car was popping and had no power and didn't want to pull past 3k rpm, it was my opti....... I rode in a truck with a collapsed cat once though, and it ran just as you are describing.

Sounds like someone swapped out the LT1 for a Mustang motor! I'd check under the hood...lol.
All kidding aside, my bet is the Opti. Never had trouble with cats because !cats so I can't help you there. I have had trouble with the Opti though (who hasn't) and mine just popped alot, not as much of a power loss as you but some, none the less.
Good luck getting it sorted out.

Nice one, I lul'd
I agree with the cat idea, why not just hack it off, put a cheap piece of pipe in its place and clamp it on, unplug your battery for a while and take her for a spin, if the problem is gone it was the cat, if its still there you didnt spend to much money on eliminating the cat as the problem
good luck
