Default Pacesetters or Hookers?

I am going to be ordering longtubes here this week or early next week. I have decided to go with the ceramic coated. What do you think about the pro/con of these two manufacturers on the LT1? HP differences? What about just what seems to work better for the LT1 in general.

I heard something about the hookers being "tuned" for the car. Is there any truth to that, or is that just something manufacturers say for sales?

its hard to beat the value of the Pacesetters, they are pretty cheap compared to the hookers and they are quality headers

both the pacesetters and the hookers are ceramic coated and with the pacesetters from what i hear the ground clearance is a little better

in my oppinion if you want a good ceramic coated lt header go with the pacesetters if you want to spend the extra money for something better i would personally spend a little more money than you would on the hookers and get some Kooks headers which are stainless and will last much long than either the pacesetter or hooker headers

I thought about Kooks, but until she is strictly a drag car or a garage queen, I cannot justify spending that kind of money on her right now. Have to keep a budget. Next step is the two mufflers.

IMO, I voted for the Pacesetters. I have the uncoated Pacesetter Quick Trip Longtubes and the Pacesetter ORY in the car. Ground clearance is good, car is a M6. Installation was as good as it can get (it's always a pain in the ***) and their sound is awesome. Even with the flowmaster exhaust that was installed on the car when I bought it. Don't forget your O2 sensor extenders. It gave the car a whole new demeanor after the install, the sound was different, you couldn't feel the torque as much but that's only because HP was now predominant.

I have an early year 95, don't need the 02 extenders, I don't have any post cat 02s. Speaking of cats, I am not going to run any. I am still an IL resident, and I don't have to.

i voted for pacesetters cuz thats what i have....cant really say anything about the hooker good or bad. But as far as the PS they install super easy took about 10 minutes to get them both in from the bottom, and no clearance issues. I am also running there ORY and that lines up perfectly. However you DO need O2 extenders...either extenders or splice your current ones which is really easy. You need to do it for the front O2 sensors. Good luck, either way i think you will love it.

^ What he said, your using your front ones at the very ends of the long tubes. You'll need them.

my bad. I was thinking of something else, the post 02s is what I was thinking of, and even if I was running cats... nevermind, I was being stupid. lol.

tabeed, do you have a lt1? (was just wondering for the clearance, though I have been hearing that pacesetters are going to fit and clear better)

Why not Jet-Hots? they are the same as the Hookers but cheaper. I've had both and the Pacesetter's were worse quality and I had issues with them but they are pretty cheap no doubt.

I used hookers on mine.. loved em'.. The coating came off but i don't see them just disintegrating and falling off due to this... Go w/ what's in your budget...

Why don't you order a set of LPP headers? They are stainless steel and cost a lot less than kooks. If you have followed the thread they should be on sale next week.

I really do not beleive there is a performance difference between hooker, jet hot or pacesetter!
The way things are i would get as much bang for the buck as possible along with quality.I have the pacesetters on my car since i got a killer deal on them and i was NOT about to spend a bunch on hedders!!!!

get whatever you want.....people are going to vote for whatever is on their car anyway

I went with the Pacesetters myself just because they were a little cheaper and I couldn't justify spending the extra $$$

I voted Pacesetter mainly because of better ground clearance due to the slip collector instead of the hooker 3 bolt collector. I also have the coated Pacesetter headers and am very happy with them. The quality is just as good as the hooker headers but is cheaper.

Voted PS, because that is what I have, and needed the extra ground clearance. I am not disappointed with them at all, and never had a quality issue with them.
