Go with a custom grind, in my opinion. Especially with ported heads (because not every port job is dead on with the previous or next). So get em flowed and get a cam made for those specs. That way you get as much power possible

In that case I wouldn't know what to recommend to you.. cc503s an d GM847s are pretty popular on 350's but not sure with 383s..

The cams you listed would be pretty tiny on a 383, would work decently well on a 350 tho.

agreed. do you have any flow numbers for the heads? those numbers can give you a good indication on what cam will perform best for your 383. but give bret bauer a call and get a custom grind.

I've got a CC306 in my 383 with stock ported heads. Definitely a mild cam for a 383 but it makes for a great street car.

I run the XFI (466) grind you listed in my 383. Smooth idle, smog is no problem, great TQ and pulls hard to over 6000 RPM's.

I know it is not a "big" cam but is what I was looking for in a "off the shelf" cam. The 467 is "bigger" if that is what you want but my sense is you will give up some low end TQ vs the 466.

You WILL need to run bee hive springs with this cam (918's)

i have the cc306 in my 383 with stock (barely ported) heads and it does the damn job, my heads dont flow well enough to let me judge how it would do up top but down low it gets the car moving, fast, the 4.11 gears help too.

For the record a cam such as the cc306 in a 383 would act similar to say the cc503 in a 350. The more the cubes the less you have to rev it so a 350 cubic inch motor with say the cc306 may have to rev it out to like 6700 where if it were in a 383 it would be more like about 6400. If I was building a 383 with and was limiting myself to an off the shelf camshaft then the cc306 and gm847 would be among the top of my list.

CC306 F T W. Did you pull your car apart yet to see whats usable and whats not usable yet? If your block is screwed then i know where there are some lt1 motors out of caprices at that could probally be scored cheap.

If your willing to dish out $400 for that cam then I would go custom because a custom grind will cost you either the same or a tad less depending on who you get it from whether it be Ai or Bret Bauer or Cam Motions etc.
