Default I want 350 hp

I have a 97 trans am lt1 non ram air and I want 350 rwhp. I bought it with a cai and muffler and thats all it has still. How hard would it be for me to make 350 rwhp without spray? Where should I start?

full boltons and a decent cam can get you there.

Oh and its an m6 with 135,000 miles.

I am a good driver but the other day I got beat by a 2002 mustang gt. It was supposedly stock but he pulled a lot harder than any stock gt I've ever raced. Ive beat plenty of 05-newer gt's. Could my car need a tune up or can stock gt's of those models beat lt1's that bad?

With that many miles I would only do bolt-ons because I just wouldn't risk the money on everything to make 350HP if the motor is toward the end of its life. I'm not saying yours will blow soon or anything since you never know when it will go, but with that many miles and if it's being raced I wouldn't risk it. At least if you do bolt-ons you could swap them over on a rebuild.

I would assume full bolt ons including Lontube Headers, and a cam will get you there no problem... But I am just coming out of an LS1 car, so I may still be over estimating. I dont know.

You are correct, but it needs to be a decent sized cam, not small. With an LS1 a small cam would be all you would need.

At a dyno day recently, a 95 6spd LT1 Camaro dynoed at 255rwhp...is that the norm for these cars?

That's about the norm for a bone stock auto. 6 speeds are usually a little higher, around 260-270 stock for them.

If the car was not stock, I'd say it probably has a few issues.

I pulled 256hp and 306 tq, but that was with a miss and a whiney 10-bolt. I hope to be closer to 300rwhp with all the bolt-on's done.

my 95 firehawk M6 car just put down 350 rwhp and 338 rwtq. i use the LT4 hot cam which was installed along with a full top end package by MTI. my heads are 2.05/1.60s and are ported big time. 52mm TB, ported intake, JBA headers, underdrive pulleys, mcleod clutch. i am also running a 4.10 gear which will actually hurt your rwhp numbers. im losing about 21 to 22 percent in the driveline due to those gears. without gears id only lose about 15 to 18 percent. car runs exceptionally well though.

I pretty much have all the bolt ons except an electric water pump, or TB.

I guess the electric water pump is always worth something..how about the TB?...Worth it on a bolt-on only car, or wait for a cam etc?

Sorry OP, didnt mean to...

Who says its at the end of its life? My LS1 had 120K and ran perfect!

if you have good compression and its a good running motor its going to be fine.
