need help on were the wires go on the starter i had my engine completely redone,but my fried had his workers help me,but they put 1 of the small wires that i think bolts on to the starter,they put it as a ground to the frame,the car will start real fast the first time,but when the engine gets warmed up and you shut the engine off and try to restart it,it grinds real slow and wont start until the engine cools down,can any body tell me if 1 of the small wires are suppose to be grounded to the frame.

My '94 Z28 has two wires a smaller purple wire to pick the solenoid (from the ignition/TDR) and a thick black to supply starting voltage (from the battery). Starter motor ground comes from the mechanical mounting to the block. There is a small black ground wire attached to the block near the starter but that is the PCM ground, nothing to do with the starter. Meter your battery voltage when starter fails, if it drops below 8-9 volts your starter is drawing to much current and may be bad. If bat voltage stays good when cranking fails you have a bad connection. A hot engine puts a larger strain on the starter and can show up weak battery or starter. heres a picture of the harness ref shoebox.. http://shbox.com/1/harness.htm
