Even with the new one this doesn't mean the pressure is accurate. Best reassurance is a mechanical gauge.

That's about where mine sits when I first start up (cold), and it is way less once it warms up. But I run 5-30

Mine is there on cold oil, but then drops as the oil warms up, however at cruising speed, that's where it sits.

I just replaced my oil pressure sending unit as well. I use Mobil 1 synth 5w-30 and I see the same pressures at 160-180. So it's deff not a fluke.

30-40psi hot idle? wow

mine sits right between the red and first hash mark at idle and around 40-50 when cold... a few times its even tripped the check gauges light while backing into my garage in reverse, or once while sitting on a hill

this is on a relatively new unit (installed nov of 07)

I put mine on a mechanical gauge. That is really the only way to truly know what you have. Electronics suck
