Im installing a hotcam kit on my 93 Z28. I have read that the springs that came with the kit are marginal at best and may cause valve float.
My question is this. What valve spring should I go with. Should I buy a "kit" or should I just by spings and use the locks and retainers from the hotcam kit.
Right now Im looking at crane cams 10308-1 valve spring kit that is 160 bucks.
Will this kit work? Has anyone here bought just valve springs and used the supplied hardware from the kit or is that possible?
Thanks for any help.
Josh.

you are correct that the Hot Cam springs will show issues with valve float
I would suggest the Patriot dual spring kit. 8401 BSBC. The kit is complete and you can't go wrong for the price.

These complete spring consists of 16 Patriot Gold dual springs, 16 titanium retainers, 32 Machined locks, 16 .565" ID machined spring bases, and 16 viton rubber seals. *1 kit required per pair of heads.
Technical Specs:
Install Height: 1.800"

yes..I should have stated myself that the Crane setup will work.
The best part about the Patriot is for less then $100 you get Titanium retainers, good locks, seals and spring bases. This spring combined with the light weight retainers will work well and support you well down the road.
if you chose the Crane's let us know and we can help you with those as well
have a nice night
