Default Oil Change Causing Higher Engine Temps??

I typically run 10W30 Mobile 1 Synthetic. I've heard a lot of good things on Royal Purple. I switched to the Royal Purple 10W30.

I have a 160* t-stat in there. It's been in the mid to upper 90's for the last couple weeks. Before the oil change I typically maxed out only a little above 160* on the gauge. Now, after my oil change, I have run as hot as 195*+.

Is this something that can happen from an oil change as listed above, or is it maybe something with the weather being a little hotter maybe after the oil change? Or something else...

Thanks.

Do you have a stock tune? With a stock tune, the fans don't kick on till 226*. Regardless of your stat, you will reach 200+* if you idle long enough. I think you are fine.

Nope, it's tuned for 160* from my local f-body shop and club sponsor.

I would check to see that the system is bleed properly and that there are no leaks.

Everything seems to be in proper working condition. It's perplexing ... I really don't think an oil change from one brand to another with the same weight and viscosity can do something like that...

even with a 160* stat the temps will still rise. Does it get hot when idling in traffic or when your moving? i have a 160* stat and in traffic it still will go to 210* but will eventually drop back down after some driving.

these engine run hot. as long as it doesnt continue to get hotter and hotter(like 220*+) i wouldnt worry about.

It seems to have settled down a little today at least... I took the drive up to Jersey on Fri and drove around here a bit today... It gets around 195* or so when on the highway during a hot day... But seems to cool down when I am at lower speeds. Weird.
