Get car SECURELY up on jackstands. Disconnect battery. Remove front portion of exhaust system. Remove starter. Remove motor mount through bolts. Either use cherry picker to lift engine from top, or CAREFULLY lift engine with a floor jack, placing 2x4 on a floor jack pad and slowly lifting against crank pulley. Remove oil level sender if equipped, and then remove oil pan bolts and pan. (If pan won't clear front crankshaft throws, rotate crankshaft until throws are "up" and out of the way.)

Do what leadfoot said. Although, you have a 6spd so instead of lifting from the crank pulley I'd lift from the Tranny and use a phone book on the jack just for protection, I had mine like that for a few months and it was just fine.

i just did my pan gasket. all I did was take out all the pan bolts, this gives you about 2" on the front of the pan and about 4" on the rear. I just wiggled the 1 pc gasket from front to back it was pretty easy...

the way I did it was took out the motor mounts with the engine and trans lifted up, via a jack on the front edge of the T56, then I loosened the bolts on the k member and took off the y-pipe and starter, then it took some tilting and cussing but it came out after a few hours.

its not as hard as it looks, I was really intimidated at first, but thinking back it wasnt so bad
