Re: LT1 in a fox stang? In all actuality the windsor is a turd. The 302 cracks in half at about 450hp and the 351w would put me in the same situation of needing everything from the oilpan up.
LT1 offers the best bang for the buck not to mention the 6-speed fits it. I can build a 600hp lt1 for about 2000k less than a 302w.
I'm not asking what engine to use, this I know, I'm asking if it has been done.

Re: LT1 in a fox stang? Was talking to a guy at our local track a while back with an ex Windsor 8 second stang, said he can fit ANY chevy block into a ford easier than a ford block. His BB in his stang fits easier than his SB 351 windsor based motor did

Why do people badmouth LT1s on a LT1 board I mean come on saying to put a Ford motor in instead of a LT1.
This is merely an LT1 section of the board.It'd be cool to have a fast Ford and a fast GM. If it was mine, I don't think I'd drop a GM motor in it. It's your choice though, Glue. Good luck with whatever you choose!

I think I will do the lt1. I found a k member for the swap and a buddy of mine can do the wiring. Big probs would be steering rack and tranny cross member. I have to check but I think D&D perf sells a fox t56 crossmember.

Re: LT1 in a fox stang? Tell you what Gluemaker, you can buy an aftermarket motorport block and build you a motor that will make alot more than LT1. You should stick with the ford...There are many used parts out there cheap....For 8000 you could build 800 plus hp with no problem....

but a 408 windsor would run low 10's on motor and
cost less. BTW, I have not had any problems with
my stock 302 block, it does have a girdle though.
