Default Vortech Vs Trickflow Elbow

Please comment if you have either of these intake elbows on your LT-1.

How is the fit and finish?
Do they work with airfoils?
Likes/Dislikes?

I am not cencerned about a HP increase, just some engine bay bling. I have the SPL Cold Air and a SLP Air Foil. It looks as if the Vortech elbow has a metal splitter down the middle that might interfere with the airfoil. Any comments would be appreciated!

Thanks,

i think they are a waste of money, sure they may look a but better but think of it this way....theyre made of metal, metal in an engine bay absorbs heat....and if your cool air is hitting hot metal BEFORE it gets to the intake/throttle body, its going to get warm....heat kills horsepower. I dont know maybe its just me but i never thought these things made that much sense...ill keep my rubber 1LE elbow.

I like how my Vortec looks. I don't have a foil so can't help you there. The fit seems good, I am going to have the chrome touched up when I have the rest of the cold air tube chromed. It's scrached a little but that could have happened at the shop that installed the motor.

I have the 1LE and it does its shop, I cant see the point in wasting money for a Vortec or trick flow.

I have the vortec on my 383 LT4 and i love it. It won't work with an airfoil. There isn't any problem with the heat. I have dynoed with both a 1LE elbow and my vortec and they are virtualy identical. The vortec just looks much nicer. I would go for it.

I have the vortech and i didnt notice any difference from the original as far as performance. I got mine because it looks nicer (even the satin version) and you wont have to worry about it tearing. OH one more thing, the airfoil will not work.

The shop that installed the LT1 in my El Camino. www.donleeauto.com If you wanted one from them they could probably take measurements from mine and make one for you. Since you have a Malibu the dimensions should be the same.

Vortec (satin) here - works perfectly with my airfoil - I used to have a 1LE.
