I hadnt really heard of this motor until a few days ago. But what are some specs? And why is it so rare?

It was the engine that was in the C4 ZR1 Vettes. It has nothing to do with the LT1 or LT4 engines. 32v DOHC 5.7l with Lotus-designed heads and a Mercury Marine block. Rated up to 405hp I think in the last couple of years for them. Awesome cars

Produced from 90-95 in the ZR-1. Mated to a ZF six speed. All aluminum. Hand built by Merc marine. They are badass engines but are expensive and expensive to mod, but they make make some crazy N/A power. My buddy and his dad own a ZR-1 shop here in IL and they own a 93 ZR-1 and recently built a 460 ci LT5 that makes some rediculous power. I also heard some crucial parts are unavailable or discontinued.

They were assembled in the Mercruiser marine plant in Stillwater Oklahoma.

Also, the ZR-1 option package was around $37,500.00, with the base car price around $35,000.00. Ouch!

Nothing more than a curiosity. In no way related to the LT1 and in no way worth looking at.

that chevelle was on 06 power tour. and i remember Apple Chevrolet had an ad in the back of Super Chevy for LT5's for $24k.

I'm on the hunt for the right LT5, just having trouble finding it. I want this car so bad. They sound awesome, its like nothing you've ever heard. think indy car w/ a pulse.
