Its easy for me to say dont worry about it, but seriously dont. It could have been much worse if you dident catch it now and make a fuss about it. If you split the case under load you can toast alot more than just the case.

Think of it this way, your spending a little to save thousands if say the tranny REALLY gave up the ghost.

I know, it's just that my car is taking up space at the shop it's at (owner has been really nice and generous to me, letting me use a hoist), and I'm on a budget :\ That, and my own time it's eating up.

He's not charging me, and it's been outside since 2 days ago now. But it's now taking up space in his back lot, and my friend already has like 4 or more cars back there as well. The owner has expressed that he wants vehicles out of there, so it just makes me feel bad that I'm adding to the mess, and I don't even work here. I DO work here, for my friend and the owner, but not alot. The owner is nice though, he fronted me money to get this trans, so I'm doing odds and ends jobs to pay him back. If my friend would pay me... I'd be in a better situation :\ Yea, I know, some friend....

Story of my life heh

heh Well, this is the first major thing I've actually paid for myself with my car. I've been in a major rut for the past few years, and when I demolished my rear end (slamming a curb) my parents helped me out (see: paid for it all :S) with it. They want to sell the car when we move, so I did this with out telling them, as to prove I'm trying my best to get back on my feet. And with a new rear, newer trans, and finding out that some time my motor was rebuilt, it would be silly to sell it. After all it has pretty much a new drive train

True, that car is pretty much new now. It would be a shame to sell it, and your working pretty hard to do things the right way (the wrong/halfassed way will only screw you in the end).

When they find out what you have done to keep it mint and relyable for awhile, I would think they would let you keep it. Unless of course you go blowing up that new rear end and tranny with some new HP

And that's where I'm at..well half of that anyways..lol

Blew the Tranny up on a test drive with the new Moser 10-bolt..it doesn't even have 100 miles on it..

That's why I said fck the Auto and time for the T56..

Trust me, it gets aggrivating, but the wait for what it's going to be with the T56 is worth it..

I'm happy where I'm at.. for now.

Eventually I see that 402 being re-built for lower compression, bored .030 to a 408, and probably getting a Pro Charger.
I'm buying the Tuning software soon, once I get that.. the mods are endless..

Let me see if I still have one at my shop. If I do and you wanna take care of the shipping I will let you have a empty case. I will check at my shop in the morning and let you know if I have one or not.

Thanks a bunch for the offer Chris, but the trans that came out of my car should have a perfectly intact case on it. If not, well ugh haha

As for what I have not being enough, it actually is, but my trans just started going out. It's either from getting DRs, or just it's time, not sure. Would I like to upgrade, of course, I think if we all had the money, we would heh I'm content with what I have right now, it's fun enough I'd love to do like Merv and build a cheap, but very powerful, 'junkyard' 6L truck motor heh

I believe that the 1993 Cases can only be used for that year.. I could be wrong, but I think that's the rule of thumb..

I call it my "Frankenmotor"..it's got all kinds of stuff in it.

I didn't get it from a Junk Yard though.. got it delivered to the House on an Engine Stand, bought it from the guy for $500. I think he got it from GM as a pull-out, only had 13k miles on it.

Well the trans I got and the trans I pulled have the same case part number, so even if they aren't the same years (sure they are), it should work.

As far as junkyard, I simply said that since there are SO many trucks in there with lower miles, so being able to grab parts would be easy.

Yes it is.. alot of the Junkyards now are starting to get a bunch of wrecked late-model Vortec Trucks.. parts are plentiful.

BTW, not sure if he contacted you, but there's a guy in the Firebird forum that had some motor probs and wanted to toss a 6L truck motor in his car (LSx) but wanted to know if it can be done and what's needed. I said you basically did just that and he should hit you up. That is, if you're not busy.
