Looks like Im going to be harassing you alot too merv, because my next project is going to be an LT1 stripper with the said LS or 6L truck block......As BIG as I can make it (N/A of course).

I used to have the T/A in my sig and love those LS1s, but I love LTs too and whats better than both? A huge one

Oh yeah, and the franken-motor is the best part of it, no doubt I will be going the same route. Whats the fun of it if you dident build it?

I went to the graveyard.... and dug up this thread heh

Big update, bad news. Finally got enough spare change to take the trans to the shop to get the case swapped on it, was going to be about $250 to have it done which was really nice of them. They stuck 2 guys on it right away and about 25mins later called saying they had BOTH of them all ripped apart and that if I was still close by, that I should stop in (Uh oh ). Went in and they gave me a bit of a walk through on it. It basically had 2 reusable parts that are worth a damn (maybe the servo is still good, I'll have to ask when I go back today) being the Shell (The Beast sunshell it appears to be, $45 part) and a spring for more line pressure. The steels were reused from before it was rebuilt and are pretty well smoked, the clutches aren't in very good shape, as a result the torque converter is now a boat anchor (due to clutch fibers being inside it) and I didn't really ask about the valve body but it was missing a couple check ***** (seller said it had a B&M shift kit, so that makes sense). Oh and the band was smoked too. Now for the case... That crack? Oh it was a crack alright, it went through the backside and resulted in 2 broken off pieces. Here's the gem of it all, the guys who tore it apart said that they've never seen one break there! These aren't fresh out of school guys either, they've been doing this for many years. So I asked if it could be a result of shipping, and the verdict was "no way it could have". They guess it was either improperly installed or something like a driveshaft broke, yet they're still unsure on that since the main shaft wasn't visually bent to hell or damaged, but it still could be bent slightly that we just can't see w/o using some tool.

So, basically I paid $550 for $50 worth of parts. I'm taking pics of everything, the shop, the gentleman who ripped it apart and am going there after I finish typing this so I can have them write up something that states what all they found and that it's completely unusable (IE a lemon). While it's long past the time frame to submit a claim to PayPal (which is what was used for the money transfer), I'm still going to do that. I think I'll try to contact the seller once more and tell him about all of this. But I doubt I'll get a reply, as I've sent at least 2 PMs since then with no reply back. He never did come through for buying the seals & gaskets as he said he would. You know, I'd just be happy with 85% (even 50% would be a bit help) money back, as that should cover having to buy new steels, band, clutches, torque converter, seals/gasket kit and labor to have it put together. Thankfully the shop is a stand up place and said they'd let me buy all the stuff and bring it in, which will result in things being cheaper. So anyways, that's where I sit!

If anyone wants to donate to the "Get Formula's Formula Back On The Road" foundation, I'll love you forever and if you're ever in town, do anything for ya :\

Come to think of it... >_> If anyone wants to trade transmission/rebuild bits, we have a cabin in Alaska on the Kenai River I'm sure I could set you up a week in the summer to stay there (Seriously)

I saw that coming from the beginning. I would take your parents advice and sell the car like they want you to. Wait a couple years buy a ls1 car.

As much as I'd like to do something like Merv has done (IE run an LS type motor), after my trans is fixed, then there's really nothing left to go wrong haha The motor has been out at some point in it's life so it can't have too many miles on it, the rear end is brand spanking new. Aside from the one part that I won't mention, as to not jinx myself (you all know what it is heh), it's all small stuff from here on out. I just did plugs, wires do need to be changed and had I know you can get to them from under the car, I would've done them. Injectors have very few miles on them (20K or so) and the hardest part to change that could go wrong now is the Fuel Pump, and even then I'd do the trap door mod. I had to prematurely get rid of my 91 and I still hate myself for it, that's why I got this car. I wouldn't have anything to drive then if I sold it, as my parents now want me to get this car running so they can sell their Protege (it's such a horrible winter car, zero traction, pathetic) and then Mom will drive the POS Corolla then I'm driving (which is theirs).
