I would highly suggest not to go with the RAM AIR Intake for the 96-97 SS style. I had it on mine when i had the 96-97 hood and it looked good, but my car bogged badly off the line due to the heat rising to the hood and being sucked in through the intake. It was good when i got going at a constant speed because cold air was always introduced. I switched to the MOROSO CAI and i didnt have this problem. i dynoed my car with the SS RAM AIR intake and i pulled 261 RWHP and 303 RWTQ. then i went with the MOROSO CAI and now i am at 269 RWHP and 316 RWTQ

Before I went to the custom fabbed intake I ran the stock SS ram air box and mine pulled just fine all the way to 400rwhp. I know the others that have pulled more hp than mine without issues...maybe you had something else going on?

I lost 2.xrwhp with my k&n compared to an open TB on back to back runs on the dyno, when searching for the cause of a weird dip in power where the car should have been peaking. Car was never unstrapped or even turned off - just ran it, disconnected elbow, and ran it again within minutes so there is a very small margin of error. I am confident that was all due to it being a used filter as well, and not the actual CAI. This is on a stock shortblock H/C lt1, so it may not be the case with a big stroker(I will be finding that out though for myself!).

Can't imagine it getting much better then that!

I am running the Lingenfelter with no issues. On a side not, does anyone know where to get the rubber seal for the MAF to CAI joint?

I made this intake out of rubber tubing from Lowes for $15 plus the K&N cone filter from my K&N FIPK. It sounds like (you could tell the suction was louder), and definitely looks like it'll flow more than the K&N (If you look at a K&N you'll see it gets pinched down pretty bad in some spots)

Since we have been having all these CAI question threads lately, Mr. Camaro should post up a seperate thread with those pics in it so others can reap the benefits of food and near free CAIs AT THE SAME TIME!
