timing question
timing question I just had my lt1 383 built for boost $7000 build. I picked it up from my engine builder a few weeks ago. Anyway I think that he timed it like a conventional engine. The lt1 should be #6 tdc when the marks are lined up on the gears, Right ? I think he timed it with #1 tdc. Is there anyway to find out with out pulling it all apart ? Some one told me that you cant time these wrong. I just want to make sure everything is right before I install it. Thanks.
1 and 6 are at TDC at the same time, just on different strokes.
The reason people say you can't misstime these is because the dowel pin only really fits in one hole in the back of the opti. This is not a reference to the cam timing you thought it was, this is an ignition timing statement.
If you are questioning the work go ahead and pull the cover and look at it. Otherwise every issue you have from here on out you will want to blame on this suspicion.
