Does the Canton oil pan require the Canton gasket?
Does the Canton oil pan require the Canton gasket? I am looking at the Canton oil pan model 15-242T. They also sell a gasket for it. I have a brand new Fel-Pro gasket for a stock pan. Can I use this gasket instead of the Canton? Seems logical to me that it would work, but I would like other opinions.

I have a Canton oil pan or order and asked that question. They said I could use the FelPro gasket and that it was cheaper. I'm using the new Dart SHP block with a two piece rear oil seal.

Awesome. And I agree, it still uses the same bolt pattern, and mates to the same block. I was just puzzed as to why they would offer a gasket. I guess revenue is revenue, even if they just repackage a FelPro.
Thats right! Revenue can be made ANYWHERE! (And the sad thing is, if it is a felpro what they were relying on is people being confused like this and just saying "oh I will take the canton one just to be safe incase it is different").
