Thoughts on cam
Thoughts on cam I have an LT1 that was built by someone else. The cam in it is speced 232/242 duration @ 50 and .560 lift int/ext with the 1.6 rockers that are on the motor, .525 with 1.5. It`s cut on a 110 lobe seperation with 4 degrees of advance ground in. Too big for a mostly driven steet car? I am transplanting this motor into my 67 camaro and I`m not interested in having a huge cam in it.
Thanks. This is also with an automatic trans with 3500 stall and 3.73 gear rearend. how will drivability be with this particular cam. I really don`t feel like buying a new cam and stall and swapping out the cams, but if this thing is going to be too big, then I guess I`ll have to do what I`ll have to do. Just would like to save some money somewhere
Drivability will really be dependent on the tune. That cam isn't exactly going to be as street friendly and comfortable as a smaller cam but you do have a 3500 stall and 3.73's which will definetly help out with the drivability of that cam.

While I've never 'been there, done that', my months spent reading these boards suggest: too much cam, too much stall, for a daily driver/mostly street car. It'd be a bummer to put together a car you don't enjoy driving. There are a million threads on cam choice; you should read a couple dozen before you decide.

I didn`t make this cam choice. It was already installed in a freshly built motor that I pulled from a 97 camaro that I received for free. I decided to sell the car, but keep the motor and trans. I have a 383 sbc I was originally going to put in my 67 camaro, but still had a few parts to buy and then go through the process of building the motor. This makes things cheaper and simpler for me by transplanting this LT1 in my 67.

I wish I had known you had a 3500 + 3.73s, thats going to help quite a bit with the driveability as stated before. It could be daily driven, its just going to putt. I would try it first before I tossed it. You never know, you might like it in the end.

Verdad Gallardo That`s what I kinda been thinking here, try it out to see what it was like. I am restoring this 67, every nut, bolt, you name I`ve done it on this car. I even built a rotisserie so I could have good access to the bottom to sandblast, do some welding and painting. I just hope that if I don`t like it after driving it for a little bit, that I don`t hurt anything on the car installing a new cam after spending all that time restoring everything. That`s what it`s all about though I guess, right?

But the stall and gears will pull it all togeather, it will make it fun for you to drive and you will still make some good numbers (If thats what your after).

I`ll post some up when I get it running. Don`t really know exactly when that will be. The car is just now in the bodywork stage. I got all the sheetmetal replacement and welding done with the exception of a couple small areas. I am somewhat starting to mock some things up, but don`t want to get too much done right now in the mockup with the bodywork going on. It`s very messy with all that dust and priming going on.
Are you at all interested in maybe putting some ported heads/intake on it later? If so that would be a sweet cam to be running... I bet the mod bug will bite you too as soon as you drive it 
The motor is already built. Forged crank, rods and pistons. New roller lifters, balanced and blueprinted. Heads are ported and intake ported. BBk 52 TB, CC chromoly roller rockers. Comletely fresh rebuild. It`s never been cranked. I just had to go through it to make sure eveything was ok because it was sitting in a body shop for 4 years. Oh yeah, new stall and built transmission as well.
**** man, your going to have one hell of a 67 on your hands right off the bat. Congrats on putting togeather such a nice sounding setup. Be sure to post it all up when your finished (specs/pics).

sounds like you got a nice little setup waiting to go into that bad boy.
It better put down some numbers. It sure has taken a lot of numbers from my pockets. Some big numbers. Restoring cars at this scale is not for the faint at heart of weak at the pocket.
I`m mounting it in the 67 this weekend so I can modify the factory TH400 crossmember to match up to the 4l60e trans and to start modifying the stock engine harness. Anyone know where I can get a full list of pinouts for a 97 lt1 4l60e harness? I`ve searched, but haven`t found anything. I need to know what wire goes to what so I can start eliminating what I don`t need.
