Default How to make a 355?

How do you make a 350 lt1 into a 355? I know with a 383 you need a longer crank, but with a 355 can you use the stock crank and or pistons and rods? My buddy has a vortech supercharged 355 with a cc306 cam and AFR 180cc heads. Trying to figure out if it is forged or not or if it is possible that the motor was rebuilt using stock lt1 parts. Thanks guys

I think all you have to do is bore the cylinders like .030" over or something like that, and install the matching oversize pistons, that should net you an extra 5 cubes without changing stroke.

355 is a 350 with +.030" larger bore.

You need to take the block out, machine it, install new pistons.
You can keep the rest stock if you want to, but there are many many options out there
to make the bottom end stand up to more abuse.
It really all depends on your goals and budget.

Do you want a 355 so you can rev higher?
Want more (or less) compression?
Do you want the bottom end to handle Forced Iduction or N20?
Something wrong with your current setup that needs fixing?
Just looking to have a 355 for bragging rights?

Its my buddies car. It is a 9.5:1 compression 355 and it is not forged. 180cc AFR heads, 306 cam, full bolt-ons, and a vortech supercharger. What kind of power should this be making and do you think that is too much for a non-forged bottom end?

You might want to ask that question over in the Forced Induction section.
I suspect that the answer will depend on the type of pistons used.
