Default Spark Plug Torque specs?

Im going to be changing the spark plugs on my car tommorow but before I do that I wanted to ask you guys a question on the torque specs. I have a chilton book on these engines and it tells me that the torque specs on spark plugs is well over 100 foot pounds. But when I bought the plugs the box said it was something like 30 foot pounds. I dont have the exact numbers cause im at work but which one is it? BTW the plugs are ngk's

have fun getting a torque wrench down there. wtf! just snug them down. they dont need to be rediculously tight. there aluminum heads so dont go crazy tight on them.


no need for a torque wrench.

Its my second time changing them, I'ts cramp as hell down there lol, but I just wanted to put them on the right way. I will be going on feel if i cant get the torque wrench in there.

WHOA!!! WHOA!!! easy with the 30ft. lbs. you just need to snug it up probably in the range of 10-15 lbs but.

it would be really bad if stripped it out so be careful.

Last I checked they are 11ft.lbs. And are you sure the chiltons didn't say it in in.lbs.? Because over 100in.lbs. would be right.

Doesnt have to be exact, just get em' tight and dont strip them out. If you accomplish both then your golden

I just came home and I checked the Chilton book and it was 132 in/lbs. And the box on the plugs said 7-14 lb/ft for aluminum heads. You guys were dead on.
