383 help a friend of mine has a 97ss with a golden engine 383 with AFR LT4 heads along with Eldebrok LT4 intake. compression is 11.5, car has svo 36s i do beleive. the cam is the SS306. has a mail order tune in it that is pig rich. the owner would like more out of it. i drove car before it runs solid but is pig rich. it dyno'd 385/435. motor has EWP, smooth billet elbow, larger TB [not quite sure size] the owner would also like to spray the car once the tune is all complete
now my questions are
do you suggest a better more aggressive cam?
and who does LT1 tuning or what software does the LT1 use? im familar with the LS1 motors and have HPtuners. if i can get access to software ill take a shot at this motor myself

Take it to a shop that can Dyno tune it. That alone will make all the difference in the world. My Heads and Cam car made 35whp over the decent mail order tune I had. If he's planning on spraying I'd suggest putting the kit on before the dyno so you can adjust for it.

I have a similar setup 93z, cc306,AFR 217cc,11.6 comp 383 took car to keith's pittstop in gettysburg and had jeremy formato do the tune a few months ago.made 425hp 385tq auto with stall full exhaust.There is more power to be had though thru more tuning time though only made 5 or 6 pulls, afr was 13.1.Had a previous mail order and was also very fat.Car has been to prp twice and has run 11.41 at 120 with a 1.65 60ft.so far launching off idle.The cam may be old technology but it works and you already have it,optmize it.
see the only clean pass the car made was on hoosier Drag radials back in summer of 06. was sorta a hot day and car only got 12.6 @ 110 1.85 60'
we expected the car to be faster especially for the mods it has. and car has some suspension work done to it. this also was at PRP
