remove belt. two bolts, one high one low, and remove the brace. unplug the connector coming from the regulator and remove power wire attached by nut. should come right out.

I would recommend investing in a haynes manual for the future.

disconnect the battery first otherwise you will get a fire works show when you try to un screw the bolt that provides the power for the alt. there are 4 bolts that hold the alternator to the car. and there is a connector on the bottom that has to be un plugged.

He's sneaky. The good stuff is all hidden in the howtos for bigger projects.
I just happened to remember seeing it.

Is there any difference between any of the lt1 alternators? Im only asking because i could only afford a junkyard alternator from a 93 camaro and i have a 96 but it was tested in good condition and it has the fans/blades on it including a piece on the back of it with a small bolt...and another thing i can't seem to get the very top/front bolt loose for nothing! Oh yeah and how do i get the serp. belt loose? Im embarrassed by this but am i doing something wrong?

there is a tensioner pulley on the passenger side of the main big crank pulley. its the only one that pivets down. find the correct size socket and pull down like your going to tighten the bolt and it will pull the tensioner down and it will release the tension of the belt. put it on the same way

Exactly a often over looked step and sadly the only reason why the car needs to get jacked up.

On my 96 it's a 13 mm.
