need timing chain with cam swap?
40k...damn that pretty sweet. Take a look at the opti as well to see what kind of condition thats in too. Better to do all this while you are in there. I vote for an electric water pump too!!
Well you can upgrade to a double roller chain if you want. Thing is if you do you will have to change over to the opti spark 2 conversion and change the timing cover along with some other stuff. Cost wise it's really not worth it if you are running just a cam. You will be fine with the stock one. Check a local chevy dealership for the timing chain.

Kinda goes along with changing the timing chain...although you may not be having any problems right now, you might down the road soon. I say change it because you will be right there and again...have the comfort of knowing you did it and it's new

haha i'm going to once i get all of this put in, i'm getting le2 heads with one of his billet cams 228/235, lpp headers, (have mid's right now) and all the little things/rr's, pushrods,lifters,valves,springs.. Would i be alright getting just rotor and cap? or just do a full opti replace? (after all the parts my funding is running low haha)

I have m6, gonna run the 10 bolt til it craps out. then 4.10's. yeah he's a good guy, knows his stuff definately. and thanks for the help on the opti/chain man.
Good luck with that set up! 
what year is your car? if you have the vented opti i would go with the gm LT4 heavy duty chain. otherwise a stock replacement will work also. i would change it if i was in there. i had 59,000 miles when i did my cam and the timing chain was all stretched out.
I had a chain with 8K miles on it and thought it would be good. When we checked it, it had way too much slack in it.
And that was a brand-new Lunati (rebranded GM) timing set I had installed only a year previous.
And don't forget to degree that cam when you install it.
It's a hell of a lot easier to check it now, then to pull your hair out later
trying to figure out why you cam doesn't act the way it should.
Offset bushings are cheap and any machine shop can drill the offset without to much trouble.
(Don't expect to penetrate powdered metal timing sets with your cordless drill)
