Default lt1 engine upgrade? or swap?

I have a 94 z28 with a new 20 over block. I live in california so i think because of smog regulations i have reched my limit(K&N air intake, edlebrock tes headers). I orginally wanted to put an ls1 into the car however i was told I couldnt due to smog? Is this true? or can I have the comp reprogrammed? If so can I cam my lt1 and have it still pass smog? Upgrade the heads? Please help me out, any help is appreciated. Thanks

there are a lot of cams out there that will pass smog. you can also do things like a converter swap (if an auto) and lower gears. An ls1 swap just isnt worth it to me.

You can put a ls1 in and be smog happy! But why you have the underdog that could LT1?

How can I put an ls1 into the engine bay of a 94 z28 and be smog legal? Isnt it all around the comp and how many emissions are relased?
I cant afford a decent ss camaro. Im kinda stuck with what I have. So I wanted to push an lt to its potential legally of course its my everyday driver.

The LS1 still has the Air Pump, and the EGR as well. If you get a later model LS1 ('01 up), it doesn't have the EGR on it, so you can get away with that one.

To be honest I dont know the california smog laws.But some guys on TGO in california swaped LS1's in to thirdgens and passed.??
