Today I put in a Coolant-Overflow Resivoir inplace of where the Battery was. I got it from a friend of mine, he had it laying around his shop.

Couldn't you have put the Switch on the Ground Wire off of the Battery instead of going through all that Wiring for the Positive side of the circuit..

NHRA rules the cut off must be on the positive side.

Ah.

Well today I finished it, I completed the Box I made for it, and bolted it all in.

I wish I knew how to post pictures on here... I would show you my setup. I put a hidden nitrous setup on my car and put a fake battery under the hood and put my optima in the back in a battery box. Its pretty clean. No cut off though...one of these days I will. I don't race it enough at the track to justify putting one on it. Not until after the cam and stuff.

Ihasfip - I use webshots to post photos. Just load them in webshots and then when you are looking at that picture on the lower right hand side there are links you can copy and paste here on the forum. I usually click the 500 size and them copy the in a forum link here.

Silly question. Has any of you with the cut off switch. tried to shut your car off when running? I know on my 71 the alt would keep the car running. Or does the switch shut off the feed from alt as well?

Good info in this thread. Glad you got it finihsed up Merv. This is how I did my relocation.

Postive Cables
0 ga. from battery to switch
1 ga. from switch to starter
4 ga. from switch to alternator
4 ga. from starter to distribution block

Negative Cables
1 ga. from battery to frame
4 ga. from block to distribution block
4 ga. from block to frame
Factory ground strap on driver side

And here's a few pics. I still need to trim the the hold-down bolts a little.

I beleive the NHRA rules state that you have to have the Switch on the Alt. Cable to cut the Power to it.

Yeah, it's mounted on the driver side. All my nitrous stuff is on the passenger side and I didn't want the battery out in the middle of the well.

It's my understanding that a firewall or box isn't needed because the optimas are sealed batteries.

you need to run a wire from the alt to to the back of the car and put the wire on the battery side of the cut off switch then when you hit the kill it will shut the car off. see my pictures.

i'm really interested in doing this, but i'm kind of clueless when it comes to finding some wire?

where would i go about buying some 0 gauge wire like this?
what should i expect this to cost per foot?
how many feet should i need to go from the stock battery location to the rear spare tire well?
then last but not least, where and how can i go about putting ends onto the wire, like so i could put bolts through them?

sorry for all the questions, help?
