I though with roller cams, you didn't have to do break ins? Now, I know this is OHC, but I'd assume pretty much a similar deal.

I have 2 great pics of an LT5 TT. One is just stock, the other is Year Ones in Tim Allen's Chevelle
With roller cams you don't break in the cam anymore, but you still have to break in the bottom end and get the rings set

I suppose you're right on that.

While it might not be the correct way to go about it, my friend has always just tossed in 30w, let it run for a few minutes while revving it up a bit more, and then drive it around. He beats on it right away to make sure they seat all the way up and down in the cylinders.

edit, I don't know why the pics are small, they were found in search of a thread I created 6 months ago from visiting the Corvette museum.
Here's a good article on it. 44 were actually made, only 1 was left (intentionally) surviving.

Diesel oil works pretty good . It has abrasive properties that help
set the rings faster .

Not to bust your *****, but lots of cars use nitrogen in the tires most of them have green valve stem caps to indicate this. They do so because, nitrogen molecules are larger and don't seep out as much over time.

The LT5 at year one is not Tim Allen's. It's Jack Jenkin's and was the car was built by Dan Wickett.

Again not trying to insult you just giving some info.

You're absolutely right about the Chevelle. I was confusing it with Tim's Impala SS with the LT5.

Also I believe it's lighter than Air, and doesn't expand/contract with the heat/cold as much.

That first pic is a Callaway TT ZR1. Give Lingenfelter a call they built 5 TT ZR1's. I believe Norm's TT ZR1 runs somewhere in the 9's with a 4L80 trans.
