Default PRE heads/cam upgrade

couple questions that i figured i should ask before i buy my heads and cam from lloyd

1) lloyd sent me a list of all the parts i would need before doing it, which included a cold air intake. being as i'm ram air with the SS, is this something i'd need or would my stock airbox be sufficient?

2) i recently purchased rockers from the for sale section here, if i installed those right now without the new heads and cam, would i need new springs as well?

3) how excited should i be to be getting heads/cam? haha, cause i'm crazy excited

I would think you stock ram air box would be fine but you might check with Lloyd. As for the rockers how many miles are on the springs on the heads now. Just keep in mind you'll be compressing them more which could cause an issue at higher rpm's if they're already weak. Also check with Lloyd and see what springs he's putting on your heads, they can affect what rockers you use (SA vs non-SA). Yes, you should be very excited untill you actually have to take on the greasy task of installing everything! Then go to the dyno and track and be excited again!

With 75K you should be fine. I would double check and make sure he know's what rockers you want to use, just in case!

First off those Rockers are exactly the right ones and second off get VERY EXCITED because will be a whole new animal especially going from just boltons to that. The stock SS airbox will be fine I assume he wasn't aware that you had that already. Installing Rockers is easy as cake but I would probaly just wait to do them since they will have to come off again anyways when you get the heads. Your going to need studs, guideplates, hardened pushrods as well to run those rockers so honestly it would be easier to just wait.

probably just the LE1 package. i'll probably only dyno tune it once to get her straightened out, but that's it. i HIGHLY doubt she will ever see the track either. its more going to be a fun weekend car that can blow the doors off of 99% of the cars that pulls up next to it, haha! i can always go bigger later if i need to

I think it should meet your goals then pretty good. If it were me I would spring for the LE2 heads and run the LE1 cam. It costs another $400 or so I think for the LE2's over the LE1's so I don't know if thats worth justifying the 10-15hp or so gain in the heads to you. Either way you will be happy, my LE2 heads and LE1.3 camshaft is great for driving around and just having fun with especially with the Yank SS3600 its just a real blast to drive. You definetly have the right stall.

you just summed up my conundrum, haha. lloyd even said get as good a heads as you can afford, but with my plans, i figure that 400 bucks for 10 horsepower just doesn't make sense. someday things could change and i want more, but i'm just trying to get her set for the next couple years when i know other priorities will pop up

I would go for the LE2 heads and the LE1 cam. After talking with Lloyd thats the best way to go IMO
