Look at the oil filter adapter. If it has coolant hoses going to it, then you have the cooler.

To see if it is a factory SLP SS option, check the end of the passenger door for the SLP options sticker. It will say: OPTIONAL OIL COOLER PACKAGE with the other SS options listed. That's what my 1996 SS has to show the oil cooler option.

Must be one of those questions again j/k

It means it has the upgraded suspension over SLP's "standard" (level I).

To be honest...I bought the car a month ago, drove it 6 hours home and tore it apart and started modding it...now im wondering, is it a "rare" car or would it be okay to completely modify everything that made it special? I see SS Camaro's selling for a lot more then what I paid for mine?

Part of it was Bilstein shocks and progressive springs.

Please post some photos of your car.

Here is an answer to a question I asked on Camaro SS World in 2003:

This should settle it...........courtesy of the late, great CSSOA.

Q. How Many SS's Were Built In 1996? As best as can be determined.

Total cars = 2410

The total of 2263 is for U.S. cars only and the total 2410 is for both U.S. and Canada. 147 were built for Canada.

White = 370 or 16.35 %
Teal = 77 or 3.40 %
Black = 818 or 36.15 %
Polo Green = 167 or 7.38 %
Red = 831 or 36.72 %

T-Tops = 1309 or 57.84 %
Coupe = 690 or 30.49 %
Convertible = 264 or 11.67 %

Automatic = 767 or 33.89 %
6-Speed = 1496 or 66.11 %

Exhaust = 2072 or 91.56 %
Torsen = 1263 or 55.81 %
Suspension = 905 or 39.99 %
Hurst Shifter = 1354 or 90.51 % (of 6-spd cars)
Oil Cooler = 286 or 12.64 % (option became available late in year around march)
Floor Mats = 1947 or 86.03 %
Car Cover = 1221 or 53.95 %
R1 Tires = 93 or 4.11 %
Syn. Lubes = 321 or 14.18 % (remember, this was included at no charge with the Torsen)

Mine has the torsen option...seems like it came fully loaded minus the oil cooler option. It's a black a4 coupe with the 30th anniversary grey leather.

Would't be too hard to give it the cooler option Get a truck oil filter adapter from, say, a 1990 Suburban (I had one, so I know they had them, at least as an option) and throw it on yours Then just run some lines up. Not sure if our stock radiators have dual cooler line provisions, but if you have an M6 then the tranny lines wouldn't be used and you could pipe it in there
