I have the cc306 and I notice the cam surge while driving at 1500rpms but once I get past 3 grand its gone. That comes from a poor cam selection although all I need is ported H/I. To the OP you should try scanning for codes first !

See thats how mine is. If I drive at 2100 in 6th gear or so it isn't noticeable. I guess it could be cam surge. Poor setup with the heads and intake. I just remember with my very large (236/248,.574/ .595) cammed 5.0 fox body with heads and intake there was no cam surge what so ever. I guess it is all in the setup. And the fact that it was carbed.

If your tps was bad it would throw a code. Mine is throwing a code now and it stumbles on acceleration the idle is off and both my o2 sensor I reading lean but I know it's just the connecter is fubared ! It's gonna be kinda hard to diagnose your problem without actually hearing though ! I'll try to help though !

Also to the op, a cc503 should not require a sd tune, but if you can't get the surge fixed, it might be your last resort. I would say take the car and get a dyno tune. The mail order tune could be some of it, but a cc503 is cookie cutter cam, and most mail order tunes should be sufficient.

What gears were in your fox body? Big duration cams need gears to help combat cam surge. Also for some reason gm pcm's are sensitive to adding lt headers. The O2's see more oxygen in the collector causing a false lean condition. If you log fuel trims I bet they are way off when experiencing the surge. My fuel trims are +15 at idle but soon as I touch the throttle they lock in right at 0. Im lookin at getting a sd tune from pcm for less someday! I say **** the maf and 02's, tune sd!!!!!!!!!

I left the msd box off and drove it for a few days and it really feels much better now. I think when i tried it when you suggested it i was expecting for all the surge to be gone. I can still feel a very little now nothing like before. Thanks riceburnerZ28
