Default anyone have beat opti 2 coil wires?

FOr some reason my car likes to kill the short ignition wire from the opti to the coil only. Every couple years my car starts to run like *** and I scratch my head for a while say to myself, "can't be the wires they are new" and then after a month of that I just go buy the single wire from GM and put it on and the car is back to 100%. I've tried various brands of wires and the car has only 75K on it but this keeps happening. I had a full MSD ignition at one point, eventually that failed so I took it off went back to stock and got a slightly hotter coil unit only. I wonder if the extra voltage put out by these things is just a bit more than the that single wire can take and therefore it just slowly burns it out. I think I may get a stock coil back on there but I have a LT4hotcam and run 11:1 so I'm not sure if that's the best idea...
ANyone else with this story? I know the old LT1 copcars used to do the same thing from sitting at idle all the time....

It's a known problem with the LT1 cars, not only F-bodies but B-bodies also, I wouldn't worry about myself, some cars do it worse than others, might wanna keep a spare coil wire in the trunk.
