based on your mods, you should be able to beat some of them, are you auto or M6? Geared?

if you have an auto, then a stall will help a lot as will gears. also a tune will help for the headers, maybe a little weight reduction and some good tires.

I had a 94 Camaro Z28 and i had hooker shorties, k&n air intake system, power programmer,160 thermostat, centerforce dual friction clutch, fidanza flywheel, and m/t et streets and i was running 8.1 seconds at kennedale. It's a 1/8th mile track but the stock ls1's were surprised with my timeslip. I pulled hard on them from take off and had them down the track about 2 cars. Your reaction time and being able to hook up is your best friend. The LS1's have good top end and they begin to pull next to you very quick but if you can hook up and get that good take off then you should have no problems. The 100 Shot of laughing gas will help a lot on your top end.

with your mods you could beat a stock one. I beat plenty of stock ones with just headers/catback and cold air. 100 shot of juice would embarrass a stock one.

I agree, with your mods you should be just about set to beat most any stock ls1...unless he had major driver mod. If the ls1 is modified...you could do some work on the throttle body, get a cam and port the heads and you would be back on top!

well i have a cam only (CC306), and headers and one night after the track i came up on a cammed 6 speed ls1 with nitto's mind you i had 4 people in my car a full tank of gas and bald street tires i beat him every race he wanted, im a 6 speed as well, and this guy can drive really good, everyone that knows my car says it is a freak lt1 it has 221,248 miles on it and i ran it at the track with just a cam and headers and i ran an 8.4, with no roller rockers and a stock replacement timing set, untuned.

That is impressive, but rare...he may have had a smaller cam or you mayjust be a really good driver, either way props to you. I also have an lt1 6 speed(stock) and the ls1 is not to be trifled with...until I get some boltons of course. THen I will race and win!

I am pretty new to driving manual as well, but I was willing to learn because it looks so cool! I have a 1994...Now that you mention it I may get a B&M or 5.0 shifter.

That sounds right, LT's are more of an 1/8 mile car as they have a little more uphm out of the hole. i went to the 1/4 mile with a buddy with a 2000 SLP firehawk and i had him all the way thru the 1000' and he beat me by 1 car. and my car was CAI !muffler UD pullies, a tune, and a baby cam, still running thru the stock manifolds. he has long tubes and full exhaust and a tune, and he is M6 3.42 im A4 stock stall 3.23

i would definitely consider the B&M over the pro 5.0 i like the way the b&m slides into each gear and the stick is shorter which in my opinion is better, but really its personal preference when it comes to shifters
