Lingenfelter Heads
okay...ive been shoping around to find out who will port my heads and i have always figured id go with the Lloyd Elliott LE2 package but i just ran across the lingenfelter website and was wondering if anyone had any info on their porting. Do they compare with AI or LE?

Lingenfelter is def. top notch stuff. You cant go wrong with them but you can go cheaper! IMO your payin for the name. With the 3 companies you listed you cant go wrong with either.

LT1 LE2 heads are capable of producing 370 RWHP with our small 218/224
custom cam and 410+ RWHP with our 232/240 custom cam.
LT1 LE2 heads consist of :
Ferrea 2.00/1.56 6000 series valves
PAC 1218 bee hive springs (145 lbs seat and 340 lbs open)
Steel retainers and locks
205 cc intake port
milling, cleaning and assembly
flow about 275/190 CFM
assembled and ready to bolt on
$1350 for LT1 LE2 heads.
$1650 for LT1 LE2 heads and any custom billet cam mentioned above.
* Patriot Gold Extreme springs (155 lbs seat and 400 lbs open) can be substituted at no extra charge

Lingenfelter offers a CNC ported version of the LT1 aluminum cylinder head used on the 1992 - 1996 Corvette LT1 and the 1993 – 1997 Camaro / Firebird. The port and chambers are carefully designed to provide the best combination of high flow capabilities and improved port velocity. This combination provides excellent horsepower gains while maintaining a strong torque curve. Lingenfelter LT1 cylinder heads are precision CNC machined in house to insure that exact tolerances are maintained. The Lingenfelter CNC porting procedure is a computer controlled machining operation that duplicates exact details from a finished Lingenfelter hand ported cylinder head. Hand porting is a very labor intensive and time-consuming procedure that takes years to perfect. By CNC porting the cylinder heads the high cost of hand porting is reduced, plus the CNC porting is more consistent and will produce better results. Each CNC ported cylinder head will have the exact same port and chamber configuration as the original master used to develop the CNC program. Following porting each head receives: Precision 3 angle valve job to maximize flow & provide extended life, CC checking chamber size for correct compression, surfacing to insure deck flatness, professional assembly, setting spring height & checking all tolerances. Base price package includes two cylinder heads: 2.00 stainless steel one piece intake valves 1.56” stainless steel one piece exhaust valves, double valve springs for 74211 or 74219 camshaft, titanium retainers, 10 degree locks, valve seals, guide plates and ARP studs. This product is priced using customer cores. This does not include a refundable core charge. This item not legal for sale or use on California pollution controlled motor vehicles.

My heads were on my car when I looked at AIs heads so I was unable to compare them side by side and definitely have not yet swapped heads to compare power differences. The AI heads I'm sure are just as good and are probably better. From what I know the LPE heads have not been updated in years.
After meeting the guys at AI, seeing their stuff, and seeing the way their stuff runs there is just no one else I would rather give my business too. I have never had any kind of personal experience with LPE other than running their heads. They run alright, but I think my car would run stronger with some AI heads.

I've got LPE heads on my Impala right now. During a recent cam and spring upgrade it was brought to my attention that all the pockets were different and an assortment of shims were needed. They are currently off because they need valve guides but according to the receipts I have they have been on the car for 8 years and 50K miles.

I've had a set of LPE LT4 heads/intake on my car for 11 years and couldn't be happier with the results. With the 211/219 LPE/Accel cam I was able to run a best of 12.09 @ 115.5mph w/ a 1.76 60' time. Mods also included 3.73 gears, BFG Drag radials, 12-bolt, U/D and O/D pullies, 58mm TB, Hooker LT's w/ ORY, stock fuel system including injectors and stock ignition. Car weighed 3750 with driver. It dynoed 370rwhp and 355rwtq.
I installed the heads first before the cam and was able to run a 13.2 @ 106 with Edelbrock 1 5/8" shorties and stock Y-pipe including cats (same raceweight), 10-bolt and 3.42 gears.
They are now sitting on my 396 (very mild) solid roller with no port work done. Only thing that has been done to them since I've owned them is new valves (which are the same 2.02/1.60X.100 that were in them when I bought them), new guides, spring pockets massaged for the larger 1.58" springs. I've been able to run 11.79 @ 120.8mph with a 1.9 60' time (same race weight). I don't think the car has reached any sort of full potential until I can put a taller gear (still running 3.73's and a 16" ET Street) and a 27" tire on a 15" wheel.
Just saying this to let you know LPE's heads are still extremely comparable to current reputable shops.

I have run the LPE LT1 heads for 13 years and they have worked very well for me. I had them re-ported in 2005 by Eric Bradby and he found a wee bit more air by hand, but I still run the same valve springs, locks, retainers that have been on those heads since 1995. I have spoken with LPE recently and they did update their CNC port program since 1995 and the hand blending would be a great idea, too. I'm a long term test dummy for their stuff and have 13 years on their bottom end and their heads have worked very well for me. I'd use them again, next would be Ai...
