Default Need Help Clutch Install issue

I just installed a Centerforce DFX clutch along with a Fidanza Aluminum Flywheel last weekend. Got the car on the road and noticed a vibration coming from the drive terrain. 99.9% sure its the clutch assembly / flywheel being out of balance. When I rev the car in neutral with the clutch engaged I can feel the car start vibrating at 1400 - 3000 rpm's im afraid/shouldn't go any higher. Afraid I could do damage to the bearing on the crank... Has anyone had a similar issue?

I am pretty sure i just need the assembly balanced. I live in Charlotte NC so i am looking for a machine shop to do it. Maybe i can find one in Mooresville. Does anyone know of a reputable shop around my area?

Or post this on a forum for car clubs in your area. I belong to a Mustang forum where I live just for this kind of reason. They know where everything is and always know what's going on in the area.

If it's vibrating while you are sitting still reving the engine, then you are right--need to pull it and have it balanced.

One of my buddies had this same problem... Ended up being the flywheel. I would start by getting it balanced as suggested.

I had the clutch/flywheel assembly balanced to the old assembly by a reputable racing shop. He got the 2 balanced with a 1.56 oz difference bout the weight of a dollar and a half. So in other words about perfect... Installed it last week and drove it about 85miles. Guess what still got a vibration! The only thing I can think of doing is resurfacing the stock pos flywheel and putting it in the car to see what happens. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? This new flywheel is much nicer and lighter and I don't want to put the old one in.

I'm having the same problem with mine. I had a SPEC stage 4 in the car and it worked great but as soon as I put a stage 3 in it, all hell has broke lose. I'm pulling my trans Tuesday and having everything balanced. Is the bearing on your Slave cylinder still good?

i havent really had the time to update this thread due to work and school. So today i figured it was about time. I have the car back together right now with the fidanza aluminum flywheel and the stock clutch. The car runs much better! There is still however a very very tiny vibration around 4500 rpm's. I have the centerforce dfx sitting out in the garage... I simply got tired of running around from source to source trying to find the solution. The guy i had balance my flywheel ran me through the procedure and sure enuf the flywheel was off by 1.56 grams from the stock, which is nothing. So i now know the flywheel balance is not the issue, b/c of him showing me the spec along with the flywheel being in the car. So the issue is 100% pressureplate related, unless i f-ed up the motor internally. ANY advice would be apreciated. I called centerforce and all they managed to do was give me an RMA number, which i have to pay shipping for to let them inspect the clutch for any quality issues, then if they deem it to be a good part i have to pay to have the thing shipped back. So basically i have a $450 clutch w/ 200 miles on it that needs to be in my car, that I cant seem to get balanced correctly. YAY!!!

We are in Mooresille - give me a buzz tomorrow at (704)660-5843 and we'll be happy to help. Unfortunately, it sounds like the ball is in Centerforce's court.

Where was the clutch engaging? My 12"centerforce engages very close to the floor because it needs a shim behind the slave. So the clutch does not fully dis-engage and makes a bit of noise.

The Clutch engages mid range through pedal travel, very close to stock pedal engagement.

I am 100% positive the clutch was releasing fully, the main issue is the pressure plate balancing. I was told by Centerforce that the spec for their aftermarket part has a significantly smaller tolerance, and the centrifugal weighting system has to be centered before balancing the pressure plate, but who knows. I think its just time to put the car up for a while and send it over to Tick Performance and let the professionals deal with it when i get come cash saved up.
