Checking fluid level?
I know this is a noob question, but I did a quick search and I also looked in the FAQ and didn't find an answer.
My issue is this, something is leaking just forward of my rear differential near the end of the driveshaft. I thought pinion seal, but the fluid looked red (and I heard that would be transmission fluid, not differential fluid). It's a slow leak, so I wasn't too concerned.
However, driving around today, I made a few quick shifts during a spirited drive. Afterwards, the shifter boot felt warm (is this normal?) and the shifter was also noisier than normal. I am a bit concerned, is my tranny low on fluid? How do I check/add to it?

I had a very slow diff leak that actually leaked down that shield in front of the drive shaft. I had no signs on my concrete driveway. I found it when I changed the diff cover. That little leak caused the pinion to start to go out over time. Check your leaks quick!!
