Default first gear not engaging sometimes

i dont know if this is common but it seems to be doing this more then ever now, when i am at a red light with the car in neutral and clutch out, light turns green so i push the clutch and try to put it into first and it feels as if the syncros are not lining up or something but it doesent grind or anything, i either have to put it into 2nd then first or i put it in neutral and then let the clutch out then put it in first again. is this a normal issue?

its like it either goes in smooth or it feels like the gear is not aligned correct and it only goes in halfway

Check to see if your speedo is working correctly. I was having a similar issue where certain gears wouldn't engage if the speedo was telling the computer incorrect data.

I've got that issue. If rolling to a stop get it into first before the car stops and then neutral. When you're ready to take off put it back in first and it should be a peice of cake. Otherwise after you've stopped start it towards 2nd (doesn't have to go all the way in) then put it in first and that also usually works for me.

I don't think you should worry about it. Mine has been doing it for a while and it hasn't gotten worse. Eventually we'll all need rebuilds and life goes on...

I am having the same problem I hate it, makes me not want to drive the damn car sometimes. When I picked it up at the dealership after some cosmic work done I noticed that the dealership put 63 miles on it in a week and it wouldn’t go into gear smoothly. When I told them about the problem they said it was alright like that when they received it. IT WASN’T.
