Engage First Gear The other day when I was putting the car away, I noticed that it wouldn't engage first gear. I was stopped and when I put the clutch to the floor it was almost as if first gear was locked out. So, i slowly lifted the clutch to see if it would engage, but it would not. I let go of the clutch completely and tried again and it engaged no problem. Any ideas what that was all about?

i have the same problem. happens every once in a while. i hear its quite normal with the t56s. ive noticed it since i bought the car with 38k. changed the clutch and ALL the hydraulics since then, still happens sometimes. if it starts to bother you, just get it into 1st while your rolling to a stop, then when its fully stopped put it into neutral and release the clutch.
when it hapens to me i either do what you did (pump the clutch once) or throw it into second then first.
but once again, ive found ALOT of threads on this cuz it worried me at first too, but its very common.
