Can you get a Screw Driver into the seam where it meets the Engine Block, and just give it that little bump to nudge it.

If it's never been off, you're probably fighting alot of surface tension/corrosion between the BH and block.. Just have to try to get some WD-40,etc and some heat on the gap, while you try the mallet and pry methods. It will eventually work loose.

before you put the bellhousing back on, put some antiseize on the dowel pins. This will save you headaches in the future.

put a floor jack underneath it to pry it up then jam a screwdriver in there. personaaly ive always been able to get them apart by moving them side to side and up and down with a little force

This was tough for me too. I used a piece of wood (1x3x15") and a rubber mallet. I put the wood against the bellhousing just under the starter where that black plastic dust cover goes. It took quite a few good hits to get it moving. Once it moved I pried a bit at the weep hole on the bottom of the bellhousing and the pry point high on the driver's side of the bellhousing.
