Missing gears, trans cold?
OK so i bought my car midway through this summer and i drove the hell otu of it until i took it off the road a couple weeks ago. Ive never had any problems shifting quickly, i literally missed a gear once at WOT over the summer and i spent a lot of time at WOT.
I was cruising with a friend a couple weeks ago and had an open stretch of road so i floored it, and then missed second. I was very suprised but i shifted into second and hit it again, then missed the 2-3 shift as well. I couldnt believe it, what an embarassing thing to do... Driving it after that ive been very worried about the trans. Sometimes it seems like it has a little trouble finding its way into fourth even on lazy shifts. I havent tried to shift really quickly at WOT since then, i did some slower stuff but im too worried that something has gone wrong.
It was a very cold night and the car had just had enough time to warm up to operating temperature, could my problem have been a cold transmission or something?
Should i be worried about the trans from the missed shifts, could i have damaged it? Should i check/replace my trans or clutch fluid?
The trans only has like 5k miles on it and the LS7 clutch. The car makes 430rwhp.

Clash shifting will always degrade a trans but several incidents should not doom the box. If you have anything but a dexIII oil in it,you could be affecting the cold performance.

I agree with the above poster. But, your slave could be going out also. If your pedal feels like it is sticking or coming up slow that might be your problem. Also try the drill mod and see if that helps.

Check to make sure the clutch is fully disengaging in your high RPM band. Come to a full stop on a flat surface with nothing in front of you. Push the clutch pedal in and put the shifter in first gear. Now holding the clutch pedal down, rev the car up to about 6000 RPM (or near where you shift) and note whether the car starts to creep forward at all or not. If it doesn't move an inch, it's disengaging fully and your issue is probably something else. If it start to feel like it's going to pull or starts creeping forward, your clutch is not fully disengaging at those high RPMs and you've got an issue that could cause missed shifts, a quickly burned up clutch, internal trans problems, etc. In this case, you should get that issue sorted out before you do much heavy driving/racing.

the good news is that i have all the time in the world to work on the car, i managed to scrape together enough cash to buy a winter beater so its sitting in my driveway for the winter. I think Ill take it out next chance i get (once the snow melts...) and try your procedure pewter.
