Default regular 6 speed with big power

Hey guys, I'm building a 1999 camaro for the street and the drag strip. I don't know how much rwhp my car will end up making but I'm hoping I can use the regular 6 speed tranny. I'm installing AFR 225 heads, with an MS4 cam and a FAST 92/92 setup, among other moods. So my question is, how much rwhp can a stock 6 speed manual take?

Thanks a lot,

About 600-650 rwhp is pretty safe on a stock unit . Can they fail with less power ? Sure . Will they take more ? Maybe .

The key to making the transmission last longer is to have the clutch working properly and don't use one that hits too hard .

I think I'll be around 450 rwhp and I will run the car with the stock suspension for a while, so I guess I'll be ok. I'm using a SPEC 3+; hopefully it will do the job...

Thanks for the tip,

Thanks for the tip,
Tremec rates them around 450 but thats way low . I've seen stock units hold up behind 700 rwhp .

if your gonna be launching high and hooking hard get a torque arm relocation kit. my t56 was built back when the ls7 clutch started coming out and t56 rebuilds was six speeds inc. i for one never had an issue with mine. all the parts inside mine are replaced. expect the shafts and gears
