G.T.O shifter
G.T.O shifter I finally got my trans only to find a weird shifter set-up.The shifter hangs off the rear of the trans and shifts thru some linkage.Anyone know if I can put a normal shifter on it?The shifter adds 2 or 3 inches of rear location to the set up that I really don't want or need.I looked at aftermarket shifters and they are way pricey for my budget.Thanks for any info.I have to get something running soon!
You can modify a HURST or SLP to work. You slot the base and it'll bolt up. Problem is the dash will hit and you won't be able to shift if you don't modify the base.
I did the SLP shifter in mine and it worked great. Then I went to a GMM Ripshift and is a lot better. Been in the car for over 3 years now without a problem.
If this going into another car, just use any F-Body shifter. It'll bolt right up without any issues.

T-56 shifter Thanks for all the replies,there is a bunch of good people on this site.I just threw away a f-body shifter left over from a shift relocation kit I installed in my 55 chevy-LS-1 powered.That's always the way.Thanks again!
