Default I Need a clutch!

SO here is my problem I have a Spec stage 2 and its slipping with only 5k on it and i cant decide what to get now. I dont want to be putting a clutch in every year, I put the spec clutch in march. I have been looking at cfdf12" and dfx, powergriphd, mcleod single disc, and monster stage 3. This is a dd and only will se the track 5 times a year.Im sitting around 360hp and will be doing a cam swap in the spring. I dont plan on making over 500hp but want a good clutch to hold up! Give me any opinions or problems u may have with these.
Thanks for all the help

Default New Clutch

I noticed that you did not include our clutch in your list. I just wanted to let you know that Competition Clutch has a great stage one that would work well in your car. It is an organic disc and a 3400lbs plate. When you pair this up with one of our lightweight forged steel flywheels, it is a combo that cannot be beat. Good luck on your choice, and if you are interested in my kit, I have a very good deal for LS1tech members.
Thanks,
CB

Textralia 0Z700, Monster 3, Spec Stage 3+, don't know anything about the Competition clutch.

I just bought a clutch from Monsterclutches.com, their Level VI. Now, I do not have it installed, and I do not any first hand knowlege of how it will hold up. BUT, I can tell you this:

As a side note before I begin, I know you are not looking for a clutch to hold the power levels below, but hear me out anyway:

I was looking for a clutch to hold 900+HP (yes HP, not torque, as I do not know how much torque it will will make, maybe mid to upper 700 Ft Lbs, maybe 800, not sure) I do know my motor is gonna make @ 900HP though. SO....I was talking with a guy here on LS1tech that has one of the fastest 6 speed cars (not the SSI car, ok?) He is running the Mcleod Street Twin, and he had me talked into it. So, I kept asking around JSUT to make sure that I was not leavig anything out since this is my first go round with LSx power and the T56. So, I looked at Spec and Tex as well. Well, I get a PM from Steve over at Monsterclutches.com saying he might be able to take care of what I am looking for. So, we talk in length about what I want to do, what he offers and why his clutch is the one I need. Anyways, his clutch was priced better than the competitor and he offered a 12 month warranty on teh clutch and said if I was not happy, send it back. I also told him that the clutch would not be installed for another 4, 5 or 6 months, and he said to call him when I installed it, and he would start my warranty at THAT point. So, even though my car is not finished, it did not matter to him, he understood projects take time, and I should not be penalized for my car not runniing for a few months. That is just plain cool But, I also had to ask how he could warrtany this clutch KNOWING that it will see 6-7K RPM clutch dumps on slicks behind a motor that is making 900 HP He just laughed and said that it would NOT be his clutch that will break, it's gonna be my tranny He has that much confidence in his product, and I like that, ALOT! Customer service is number one to me. Always has been and always will be, even more so these days with the economy what it is. You find someone with GOOD customer service, you do business with them, period. What I am saying is, I am SURE his clutch will hold up, whatever Level you are looking at (Probaly his Level 3) and you will get a clutch from a company that is gonna take care of you LONG after you make the purchase.

So, cliffnotes:

Hey fst, send me some shots of the Stage 2 when you have a chance to get it out of the car. I am interested in the cause of you slippage and pictures will help with assessing the issue. Thanks!

I will try and have the clutch out by mid feb. and i will get some pics out to ya.
But I dont understand how this will help me I have already talked to my parts guy and he said that spec couldnt do nothing about it because it was past the 120day warranty.
I understand that these are peformance clutches but i think 5k miles is a short life.
I put new hydrolics and flywheel in when i did this too

Get the monster clutch stage 3. I have a little more than 500 miles on mine and it drives great and my car is driven daily. Around 450 miles all the chatter went away and it is a little harder to push than stock but not much more. Its also nice to know that they stand behind their clutches 100 percent for a year!

Fst, as I mentioned I will be happy to see what I can do to assist you...I think that you have assumed that this is a clutch issue without knowing for sure what the cause is. This is why I am asking for pics. When and where was this kit purchased?

Talking made up my mind

I think that Monsterclutch is my next choice, I have talked with Steve and Eric and they say the stage 2 would hold for what I have and what I plan on doing, but if I want too do some track time more than a couple times that the stage 3 would be a better choice. So stage 3 will be mine in a week or so I cant wait to get it! By the way their customer service Rocks it was about ME nothing else there are not many people out any more that I have personaly done business with that will give you that kind of time!
Thanks again for everyones help!
