The Buick guys will tell you 9,999,999,999 times that it's a waste of time because of difficulty staying in boost and other "lack of valid reason do the swap" reasons. I am not a turbo guy (yet) so I'll just say that the power curve of the 3.8 T in the 80's models is best suited to a good auto w/ appropriate stall converter.

I would stay with an automatic on a GN as well . Boosted cars like that need the constant load that only an auto gives them .

yeah i hear what you guys are saying but thats what he wants and to be honset a 6spd gn would be nice but the reason i asked about the t56 vs the t5 is the car just over 400 whp so the v6 camaro t5 isnt going to hold that power

You could probably get away with a built T5 but the T56 would hold up better .

Building a T-% is a giant waste of money. Really the only thing that can help the T-5 is billet syncros and some other billet parts. There is a company on here that did a swap on 3.8 turbo Camaro. Very sweet. I am in the process of doing the same, but not using the t T_5 Housing.

There is no such thing as billet syncros .

If you want to build a pretty stout T5 , you will need to use after market gears such as the ones offered through G Force or preferrably the A5 kit offered through Astro Performance (which are not available right now) . Other items to use would be a billet cluster gear support plate and even better , to use a G Force replacement heavy duty main case . With that said , the cost of building a unit like this is about $2500.00 so its more cost effective to go with a used T56 or maybe even a Tremec TKO series 5 speed .
