What is wrong with my LS1 Please help

Default What is wrong with my LS1 Please help

Hey guys


I have a SS Camaro with under 30,000 miles The Clutch was sticking 1/2 way to the floor and sometimes it would not come up.

I bleed the lines. (didn't fix)
I replaced The Master and Slave Cyclider
I replaced The Clutch with a Clutch Masters Stage 1
I replaced The Flywheel with an Alum.

I get the car back from the shop and the guy tells me it's my Transmission now??

The Car when cold seems to go into all the gears just fine.
Once the car has been running for 15mins the Gears feel hard to get into.
I called up Clutch masters they tell me just to break in the clutch it should be ok.

Now when the car is Cold It will not go into Reverse when first starting up.
It takes me three hard attempts with the clutch all the way in before he pops and goes into reverse.. I can smell the clutch burning.

Now, once I have gotten the car into reverse I can go though all the gears with a little resistance.

This was not the problem I had before I replaced everything...
*If I am in nutral I can sometimes rev the engine and smell clutch burning.. (odd)
*I was at the light once and when I pushed the clutch all the way in. I put it in first from nutral and there was a loud POP.


Suggestions? Help? Should I take it to a Transmission Shop or back to the mom and pop shop I had the clutch done?

I bet your just having clutch disengagement issues. . just like everyother ls1 owner with a 6 speed. Right now Tick performance is having a group buy on their adjustable mastercylinders. That is the cure all for shifting issues. Check it out. Ill be ordering mine when i get paid.

Oh and the popping out of gear could be bad syncros. Mine was doing that and it ended up being a loose shifter. If you have a pro 5.0 they tend to work themselves loose after a period of being used. You might check the bolts holding the shifter to the tranny and see if thats the case.

You can smell the clutch burning when you rev it in neutral? Clutch disengagement would would be that when you rev it with it in gear with the clutch in it burns. Get a nice flat surface or put the back of the car on jackstands put it in first keep the clutch in and rev it. If the tires spin you need to pull the trans and put a shim behind the slave cylinder.

Or an easier way of curing clutch disengagement issues without pulling the transmission, that is if your willing to spend a little bit of money, is to get an adjustable clutch master cylinder.
