Default Drill Mod?

I have heard a lot of good stories of success with the drill mod. I know that I have to increase the size of a hole in the line of the master cylinder, but which end needs to be drilled? Can I do this with the transmission installed in the car?

The end that goes in the master. There will be a small push pin, just knock it out the drill the small hole bigger. It is easier if you take it out of the car.

Its the ONLY way to do it right! You need to be able to flush out any metal shavings that could linger after drilling.

Should be a thin white plastic collar on it... It needs to be pushed in towards the tranny and it should allow it to disconnect...

I use a fuel line disconnect tool to remove the slave instead of fighting it with 2 small screwdrivers. It's one of these and #5 fit it perfect:

Make sure your car has one of those collars, mine didn't.

Thumbs up

That's right. It's a full, unrestricted line from end to end. Nice piece.

I have the stock master that came with the car, but it is new. With the mcleud cluth and pressure plate, I've been told that i'll need the extra line pressure.

finished the drill mod the morning and cleaned out the line and got it back into the car. Seems to have worked okay. I will bleed the line once we get the tranny back in which has not worked so far. 4 hours of trying to get it to line up!

You can also use a 17 mm open end wrench. It fits perfect around the slave cyl connector to push in the plastic release collar.

The best way I have found to get the trans back in is to basically just get a buddy and man up on it. TheBlurLS1 and I have pulled the trans in our car a ton of times. We used to use a jack but it took awhile. Use the jack to get the shaft lined up the move it and start pushing. Also but the car in gear so you can turn the output shaft by hand to get the input lined up better.
