t56 questions ..
Im wanting to swap my 99 camaro to a manual trans, My questions are,
Does the lt1 (93-97) share the same bellhousing as the ls1? also is the 89-96 corvette 6 speed the same?
also is the t56 the only option for the ls1? Im wondering about like a t5 or another 5 speed....
and if anyone is interested, and lives near asheville nc. would like to swap my low milage automatic from a 99 camaro for their 6 speed, I will pay for ALL labor to have them swaped over

i dont think u would want any 5 spd tranny for ur ls1! the t5's arent capable of holding up to the hp the ls1 is throwing out, i could be wrong, but i wouldnt really waste my money on making a t5 to work with the ls1, if u can!

I don't believe 300hp/330flbs is going to hurt a t5, older camaros ran them for years on the l98 tuned port, with more TQ then an ls1. and the mustang guys put some serious HP to a t5.. I don't believe them to be as strong as the ZF six-speed or the 1st gen t56.. but they would hold up fine to stock/bolt on ls1.
I was debaiting a t5 over a (98-02) t56, because Ive been reading about how the newer t56 transmissions are made in mexico and a very weak.
so from what whats posted, the ls1 has its own transmission? the older t56 will not bolt up, only the ls1 t56?

!
Dont even think about installing a T5. They are JUNK! I rebuild all types of 5 and 6 speeds and the T56 is the ONLY way to go. All of Tremec's parts are made in Mexico now. The quality has not changed at all. Hope this helps!

ok forget about the t5....... no one has answerd my question, Will a t56 from a lt1 work with an ls1? do I need to change the bellhousing? or is the lt1 t56 a complety diff transmission that in no way will work with an ls1?

you can use it. i know you need a diff bellhousing and like 2 other parts. forgot what they were though.

No one has ever swaped from a4 to m6? come on now I need to know this, and I can not find it under search... I have whole the whole car lt1 6speed, it would be a perfect swap in not I have it sold. so I need some input...
just a gen swap question, what do I do about the PCM? Do i need to change it to a 6speed ls1? or can I keep the automatic/ls1 pcm? what should I do about the wires going to the a4? Does the 6speed pedels bolt up to an automatic car?

Do your search, and you will find your swap in a sticky.
That being said,
93 LT1 by itself
94-97 LT1 are the same
98-02 LS1 are teh same.
You can not get a '93 to bolt to a LS1 tranny.
To get a 94-97 LT1 tranny to bolt to a LS1, you need:
LS1 bellhousing
LS1 Midplate
LS1 input shaft
LS1 Hydraulics
LS1 flywheel, clutch and PP
