Default McCleod Clutch with stock slave AND master?

I was talking to someone that installed a McCleod single disk clutch in his 99 Z28. The clutch wouldn't disengage all the way, but he still had the original slave. He said the stock master doesn't displace enough fluid for this clutch. The drill mod was done, but the problem was still there. Is it the original slave or does the stock master not displace enough fluid like he said. I'm asking because I just got this clutch for dirt cheap and don't want to spend a lot for a master cylinder. I'm also updating the slave to the '02 version.

Thanks
Ryan

That clutch is made to use there adjustable master. The master does push more fluid helping the clutch disengage more.

So will it work or not? Is there anything I can do to make it work work? I'm a little short on cash and need to get his clutch in soon!

Not really. You risk melting the new clutch because it's not fully disengaging.
