Lets say i put new clutch disk in backwards?

Default Lets say i put new clutch disk in backwards?

as the post says how would i know if i did put it in facing the wrong way. I have the clutch bleed says that mechanic that looked at it tonite and it still wont go into gear even if car has all 4 tires in the air. So he asked if i could have put the disk in wrong. what would happen if i ddi and how would i know i did before ripped the trans back out for 4th time.

the clutch wont release at all most likely, you would not be able to put the car in gear if it were running.

If the disk is in backwards the part with the springs that sticks out further will be jammed up against the flywheel.

Your clutch may not be bled properly either.

wow thats wierd!! i think i might have done the same thing was just gonna post that. im having the same problem. if you pull it out and flip it and it works let me know and if i get mine out 1st i'll let ya know.

Mine would not go into gear intitially becase I had my master set to disengage/engage to early and I was not pushing on the pressure plate enough. If you have and adjustable master it may be worth checking this.

If this is the case and it is backwards, be sure to check the disc for flatness. It could be bent and will not disengage at all if that happens...

Yep, my brother did the same thing. Car would not go into gear with the car on or off.

I bet it is in backwards cause mine would go into gear with the car off just not when it was on. Kinda sucked cause I had to do a 3 point turn to get back to my driveway and I had to turn the car off each time to get it into gear.
