Tranny goes into gear, but doesn't do anything...

Tranny goes into gear, but doesn't do anything... My buddy just picked up a 99 WS6 Formula. It has 65K miles on it. Now, I haven't driven it to see the problem myself, so i'm going to relay the info as best I can...
He says when he's driving it hard and goes to shift fast, it goes into the "tunnel" or gear, but it just sits there and does nothing, but the engine revs. It feels as though it's not really in any gear, but is all the way into where it should be. He said if he beats on it and then shifts easy into gear, it goes right in and he can accelerate again without any problems.
Now the guy who had it before him put on a used Hurst, so it came with the stock M6 shifter originally. Does anyone have any idea of what could be causing this? It's not any gear inparticular, just does it randomly. Thanks for any help!

Re: Tranny goes into gear, but doesn't do anything... I should add that it doesn't seem like the clutch is slipping. He can launch it hard and everything, it's just that the tranny itself feels like it's not in any gear, almost like it's in neutral when it should be in 2nd, 3rd, etc...

Re: Tranny goes into gear, but doesn't do anything... Exact same problem on my 2002 WS6 - it was happening on the hard shift from second to third. The dealership did the fix, so take that for what you will. They replaced third gear and the synchro and the problem hasn't been seen since
