5.3 to ford t5 so whats involved for this swap. Im swapping a 5.3 into my 86 mustang and I want to retain my gforce t5. Right now the plan is to get the Quicktime adapter bell housing and an ls flywheel that will fit the 04 silverado motor that I am using as a donor. My questions are what size flywheel will I need and what kind of balance or imbalance will it have to be to work with the 5.3? Also what kind of clutch can I run with the T5 using the cable acutated clutch forck and a ford throw out bearing. Any suggestions on pressure plate and disk combos would help to as far as diameter goes, Right now I think it is supposed to be an 11" diameter clutch?... its going to be a street strip car so nothing too crazy... Thanks!
The older 5.0's had a 10.5" clutch disc and the newer Gt's went to an 11" clutch disc in 2001 . Depending on the power output of the engine and how you plan on driving it , I would say something like a SPEC 2 - 3 would hold up just fine . The G Force T5 does not like a lot of shock sent to it so if it were me I would stick to the stage 2 setup .
As for the clutch cable setup , the LSX style clutch will work fine with a pull type clutch fork system . In fact it will probably work better than it does with the hydraulic crap GM uses .
